This 3600 SF home fulfills the owner’s goals of a modern cottage with a beautiful and understated street presence. The design features open, light-filled and Craftsman detailed interiors in generous yet intimate spaces.

Thoughtful arrangement of rooms and ceiling heights provide distinct, homey spaces while maintaining an open, light-filled experience. Complete attention to interior and exterior details offer the traditional feel of a Craftsman, or Arts and Crafts, home. Yet all detailing is approached in a contemporary and southwestern manner to root the home in time and place.

The windows are designed to not only carefully capture the spectacular views from this hillside lot, but also contribute to the beautiful interior at night. The drystack stone for walls, fireplaces and benches was carefully chosen to evoke indigenous masonry techniques.

The stone is a key compositional element. The native sandstone unites the design diversity of the home. It figuratively spans from the home’s modern sophistication to its rustic, relaxed heart.

The home’s features include:

Cherry interior woodwork, including windows, trim, cabinets and  flooring.
